Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Department

Emergency Operations Centre, 3280 Airport Road, Boulder, 80301

Boulder County Communications is the 911 dispatch center that serves Unincorporated Boulder County, Eldorado Springs, Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Lyons, Jamestown, Nederland, Superior and Ward.  Available 24-7, we answer all 911 and non-emergency calls, along with dispatching over 30 Law, Fire, EMS and Search & Rescue public safety agencies. Our presentation will provide an overview of who we are and what we do, along with an explanation of  the “behind the scenes” people and systems that facilitate response to your doorstep during an emergency.  On the heels of the Marshall Fire, we will discuss the role of dispatch during a disaster, including emergency resource management, dealing with high call volumes and emergency alerting.  Our time together will be spent in our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and a walking tour of the 911 Center—which is across the hall.

Yes! We are set to present in the EOC.  3280 Airport Road, Boulder, 80301.  You will turn right about 1000 yards after the Jail (after the curve on Airport Road). There is a large parking lot for everyone just outside our building.

Macky Auditorium Concert Hall

1595 Pleasant Street, Boulder, CO 80309

Macky is a multi-disciplinary venue and an auxiliary unit of the University of Colorado’s College of Music. One of the 12 buildings that form the Norlin Quadrangle Historic District, it serves the campus and region by entertaining, educating and challenging audiences with high-quality local, national and international performances and events. A wide range of performers and speakers have graced its stage throughout the years including Eleanor Roosevelt, the Dalai Lama, Yo-Yo Ma, Jane Goodall, Robin Williams, Conan O’Brien, Van Cliburn, Bill Maher, Pilobolus and Bill Nye.

While many Boulder Rotarians and guests have likely attended a concert or lecture at Macky, few will have seen backstage or in areas involved in its staged productions. A behind-the-scenes tour (eg. downstairs to the large area for building sets, costuming and dressing rooms) follows lunch and a building overview by Rudy Betancourt, Director of Macky Auditorium Concert Hall. Legend has it that Macky has two ghosts. Come learn if this is true and where they might haunt this facility. Parking on campus will require some walking along with the likelihood of a charge. Your Rotarian host will provide details and work to organize carpooling.

• Next door on the second floor will be an exhibit honoring and celebrating Boulder Community Health — an over 100-year-old institution of health, service, and sustainability
• Our Garden level’s exhibit is worth a view –Playzeum, designed for young learners, highlights at least 9 Boulder creatives who designed the space during the quarantine time, and exhibits the innovation of Boulder’s youngest when given the opportunity to play in the space
• All are also welcome to drop into Google Garage and experience some virtual reality if time allows, and of course — the cherry on top are the views from the Museum’s rooftop on its third floor

Lori Preston, Executive Director, and Beverly Silva, Community Outreach Liaison will be your main tour guides. A hopeful introduction of our new Curator, Elizabeth Nosek, and our long-time Director of Education, Emily Zinn will be included. Other staff will be available to assist with any questions as we move through the spaces. We definitely want to tell you about our latest project, Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History, soon to culminate in an extensive revelation of stories and artifacts of Boulder’s Black community and led by James Beard award-winning author, Adrian Miller.

A Spice of Life

Tasting room at 2108 55th St, Boulder, CO 80303

A Spice of Life is owned by best friends David Rubin and Dan Bruckner who met at the University of Delaware. ASOL was the first zero-waste catering company in the state of Colorado and produces 150 weddings per year in the mountains and front range, as well as 150 catering galas, nonprofits, social occasions and corporate events. In 2010 they opened a Corporate Café Division in which they built cafes within larger corporations.
ASOL found creative ways to make it through the 2013 flood, the pandemic, and admires the amazing team that both downsized from 155 employees to 18 staff members and have been reborn in this “post” pandemic era. ASOL has recently catered 1,000-person events, for I Have a Dream Foundation, the Korn Ferry PGA tour, and the MS 150 recently.
