BNGRC members Roberta Farrington and Saskia Westhof presented the new international Rotary project, “Visionaria Teacher Training in Cusco, Peru” to a group of YMCA students heading to Peru this Summer. It was a rich exchange about culture, girl and women’s empowerment, the importance of education, and the wonders of travel.
Roberta also took the students through a favorite Visionaria lesson called ‘Tree of Life’, where everyone was able to examine and share how their experiences have shaped their life and will help them grow in the future. This activity is done in the same way with 100’s of students in schools supported by the Visionaria / Rotary project in Anta, Peru (near Cusco) and builds connection between communities when they see the similarities we share. We are grateful to the Boulder Valley YMCA for their interest in our project!
