Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Boulder Rotary Club Foundation had a successful year supporting the Good Works of the Boulder Rotary Club. Principal gifts made in 2020 included $78,500 for the Pine Ridge Reservation Clean Water Project; $25,000 to Meals on Wheels for a new delivery van; and $9,050 to the Feeding the Front Lines project of Boulder Community Health.

The Foundation continued its strong support of education, funding more than $32,000 in vocational and traditional scholarships. Additional significant gifts included $8,780 to Impact on Education for support of pandemic-related initiatives of the Boulder Valley School District and $5,000 to Natural HIghs, a substance abuse prevention program.

The year 2020 was a roller-coaster ride in many ways. Foundation assets declined dramatically in the first quarter as the COVID pandemic took hold; however, the markets quickly recovered, and the Foundation ended the year with a net gain of 7.25% on assets of just under $1 million.

It was also a year of significant firsts for the Foundation: publication of our first Annual Report, adoption of a Fund Development Plan, and adoption of a formal process for planning and budgeting for the Club’s Good Works in advance of each Rotary year. These efforts are intended to increase the visibility of the Foundation and foster its growth, enabling it to continue to support the Good Works of the Boulder Rotary Club for many years to come.
